Who we are
Biblical
We hold to the verbal, plenary inspiration, infallibility, inerrancy, authority, and sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures. Scripture alone binds the consciences of men; and it does so absolutely.
Historical
We affirm the first Four Ecumenical Councils of the historic, undivided Church [(1) Nicaea, A.D. 325; (2) Constantinople, A.D. 381; (3) Ephesus, A.D. 431; (4) Chalcedon, A.D. 451] as representing the true mind of the Church in the face of heresy and controversy, and the consensus of the faithful as led by the Spirit of God into all truth.
Confessional
To distinguish this Covenant Assembly’s interpretation of the Scriptures from the manifold deviations and/or heresies which have marked the Church down throughout Ecclesiastical history, we affirm the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith. This we affirm (as C.H. Spurgeon said), “Not [...] as an authoritative rule, or code of faith, whereby [we] are to be fettered, but as an assistance to [us] in controversy, a confirmation in faith, and a means of edification in righteousness.”
Creedal
We affirm the three Historic Creeds of the Ancient Church (The Apostle’s Creed, The Nicean Creed, and the Athanasian Creed) and our own Beechwood Creed which as been adapted from the historic creeds.
Reformed
We affirm the essential principles of the Protestant Reformation (including but not limited to: the Five Solas; a Reformed Soteriology; and a Covenantal and Systematic Theology).
Baptist
We are a Baptist Church, affirming the ordinary Baptist distinctions (particularly, Credo-Baptism and the autonomy of the Local Church).
We are a multi-generational family of disciples who are making disciples one of other and of the world through the proclamation of the Gospel to the glory of God.
